Ruth
By Judith Bronte

"Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged."
~ Isaiah 51:1 ~

Was it so easy to turn from Truth-
Stop thy ears from Reason's voice?
Silence is such a convenient choice-
Unlike the daughter of Moab, Ruth.

"Where thou diest, I will die!
Where thou goest, so go I!"

Ruth pursued after Truth this way-
Naomi's God would be her God.
Ruth walked Israel's chosen sod-
Moab's idols she would not obey.

"Thy people will be mine,
My God the same as thine!"

Oh that this speech were yours-
Obey God's word against all others!
Forsake sisters, fathers, mothers-
Christ is knocking on your doors!

"Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled."
~ Isaiah 50:11 ~
